There are occasions where following a Repair or Overhaul to a Rotable Part no. the ensuing process changes the Part Number. This may be because of various reason e.g. of the application of some Modification that might have taken place. When this happens it can prove a problem to keep the continuity of the chain of events. Since CAFAM tracks each Part and Serial Number uniquely, the best option is to retain both Part Number i.e. the "old" and the "new" where the "old" is tagged with a Comment e.g. "Changed to P/no XXXXX".
